Monkey Puzzle. Julia Donaldson and Alex Scheffler

monkey puzzleOur copy of Monkey Puzzle is a board book that I think the bigger children got for Tigerboy for Christmas last year. Great choice as it’s a wonderful book by the team behind the Gruffal (Julia Donaldson and Alex Scheffler), with plenty to amuse even slightly older children. A lost monkey looking for his mum with the help of a well meaning but not very educated butterfly 😉 She tries to palm him off on a variety of other animals before finally realising she needs to look for a creature who looks like him.

You could talk about assumptions and understandings as well as the story, or you could just enjoy the repetitive rhyme (the kind that children can join in with) and the pictures, whichever you prefer.

A staple that no nursery shelves should be without.
