I don't remember when I first met Mog The Forgetful Cat. It's as if I've always known her. I definitely read her to the older children, and I'm loving having the chance to introduce her all over again. It's a simple book with unfussy illustrations. I know this might be a slightly heretical thing to say, but I'm not a Charlie and Lola fan. I don't like the way the she talks, or the way she manipulates Charlie, or even the physical way the books are laid out. Saw Peely Wally in a charity shop and couldn't resist it. Funny how the two children reacted so differently to it. Our copy of Monkey Puzzle is a board book that I think the bigger children got for Tigerboy for Christmas last year. Great choice as it's a wonderful book by the team behind the Gruffal (Julia Donaldson and Alex Scheffler), with plenty to amuse even slightly older children.
