Saw Peely Wally
in a charity shop and couldn’t resist it. Funny how the two children reacted so differently to it. Smallest was terribly worried about the egg, and traced the line of its travels from page to page, while Tigerboy concentrated on butterfly spotting. They both seem to really like Peely Wally herself, I might see if they want to do some finger painting and do their own bird pictures to match.
This isn’t strongly story based, but there’s plenty going on to make up for that, with the egg’s path to trace and butterflies to find, so expect it to become a firm favourite. You may also discover yourself answering awkward questions about where baby birds come from, and how come the baby doesn’t look like its mummy and so on, or is that just my children?
