Got a child who is afraid of the dark? They might enjoy this. Daisy was just thinking of a game when Darkness Slipped in through the window. You might expect she would be a little surprised, or even afraid, but instead, she grabs him and they dance the night away.
Which could be read completely wrong, but this is a picture book folks. It isn’t excessively pink, but it is pink, so if your child has a pink aversion to go along with the fear of darkness you’ll want a different title. Personally, athough I’m not a fan of pinkness, I rather liked Daisy’s style, and love the way this is illustrated with the Darkness figure within the black. It’s shiny and tactile (I’m sure there’s a wonderful technical term for how the effect has been achieved but I don’t know what it is I’m afraid) as well as the story rhyming, so you might well find this one is a keeper.
It’s got: a girl wearing pink.
It’s not: a scary book, surprisingly.
